Position Summary:
This role involves significant physical labor and heavy lifting, working within a team of four to install poles, strands, fiber, or conduits to support our network infrastructure. Workdays typically range from 8 to 10 hours, up to five days a week, providing opportunities for overtime pay. Additionally, this position may require being on call periodically and traveling for assignments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Aerial Foreman with various tasks, including erecting telephone poles, feeding fiber, and providing tools to aerial technicians from the ground.
- Engage in heavy manual labor, with the ability to lift up to 70 lbs as needed.
- Work in confined spaces such as crawlspaces and attics, utilizing crawling, bending, reaching, and twisting as necessary.
- Flag on job sites when required.
- Complete all necessary training as mandated.
- Collaborate effectively with other crews.
- Maintain punctuality and good attendance, with workdays typically commencing at 6 AM.
Qualifications:
- Excellent physical condition with the capability to lift up to 70 lbs occasionally.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, and participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, day or night.
- Possession of a current class A CDL, or the willingness to obtain one through our internal training (must be acquired within 90 days of hire).
- Safe and responsible driving of company vehicles.
- Possession of a flagging certificate or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire (training provided).
- Ability to think independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Must reside or be willing to relocate within a reasonable distance from the office.
- Capability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire (training provided).
- Dexterity to handle tools and equipment as necessary.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Vision capabilities: close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus; ability to distinguish between different sizes and colors of wires.
- Clean driving record.
