Job Summary

The Access Controls and Security Systems unit is responsible for providing technical support in the installation, repair, and maintenance of locks and security systems to Facilities Services teams, Medical Center, and the University at large.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Door preparation, installation of locks, exit devices, door closers, electronic hardware, and associated devices
  • Repairing and providing preventative maintenance to doors, locks, exit devices, and key fabrication
  • Communicating clearly with campus departments, contractors, and design consultants
  • Interacting with a diverse professional staff, both independently and as a team member, in a busy environment
  • Reading, writing, and performing basic arithmetic calculations and reports
  • Reading and interpreting construction drawings and door schedules
  • Handling multiple projects simultaneously and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated theoretical and working knowledge of locking devices and master key systems
  • Ability to understand written and oral instructions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access)
  • Working knowledge of applicable building and safety codes
  • Ability to analyze problems, determine solutions, and make decisions based on analysis
Requirements:
  • High school graduate
  • Two (2) years of experience at the operational level in an appropriate craft
  • Background check and physical health clearance required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • University and/or Medical Center experience
  • Demonstrated experience with electronic key system management (such as Keywatcher, Videx, Schlage SMS, or similar systems)
