Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish direction and strategy to achieve Automation objectives.
  • Facilitate alignment and resource allocation across teams.
  • Adopt a global perspective to connect the Automation team with the Business Unit.
  • Create an environment that empowers team members to make daily decisions, providing the necessary tools, training, and support.
  • Ensure a productive working environment to meet Business Unit goals.
  • Eliminate obstacles and manage conflicts, both internal and external.
  • Oversee, communicate, and ensure adherence to Oxy standards and best practices.
  • Design and implement staff development initiatives.
  • Present recommendations and requests for approval to senior management in collaboration with the Automation Manager.
  • Identify and improve process inefficiencies and control equipment.
  • Lead teams focused on continuous improvement.
  • Engage in QAQC audit processes.
  • Effectively utilize both internal and external resources within the business unit.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary technical reviews of major assets and new business opportunities.
  • Contribute to annual and long-term business planning.
  • Supervise staff across various levels and disciplines within the Automation Surveillance Teams.
  • Develop staffing plans and forecasts to ensure adequate personnel to support business objectives.
  • Successfully recruit, hire, and onboard candidates who align with the organization's needs.
  • Enhance the professional and technical skills of team members through performance management, including goal setting, coaching, and training.
  • Develop and manage programs and practices that maintain a safe, productive, and environmentally responsible workplace.
