Job Overview

The Housekeeping Supervisor will oversee and coordinate the operations of the Housekeeping and Laundry departments to ensure compliance with environmental standards as per Federal, State, and Local regulations. This role involves supervising and managing housekeeping and laundry programs to maintain the facility in a clean, appealing, and organized state.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise all housekeeping and laundry staff and their daily activities throughout the facility, ensuring effective and efficient service delivery while managing expense budgets, staffing, and resolving interdepartmental and personnel issues. Maintain records related to accounts payable, received supplies, equipment maintenance, and other departmental functions.
  • Assist in developing and implementing the organization's Housekeeping Program and record-keeping systems to uphold the facility at its highest operational standards; establish protocols and guidelines for housekeeping staff.
  • Train housekeeping and laundry personnel on cleaning, laundry, and maintenance procedures; assign tasks and evaluate work to ensure adherence to cleanliness standards.
  • Guarantee the cleanliness and sanitation of the environment and linens for the safety, comfort, and convenience of residents.
  • Organize employee schedules and arrange for replacements during absences.
  • Collaborate with residents, nursing staff, physicians, department leaders, and other personnel regarding environmental service requests, infection control, service resolution opportunities, and other interdepartmental matters. Provide timely follow-up for information requests. Consult with management on best practices.
  • Prepare a calendar-based schedule for the execution of the Housekeeping program; ensure adherence to safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Conduct daily inspections of assigned areas to ensure compliance with cleanliness standards. Work closely with the infection control department to meet all regulatory requirements. Provide education and ensure staff compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, which may change at any time with or without notice.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience in a commercial setting with knowledge of laundry and housekeeping practices.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in long-term care.
