Case Western Reserve University is in search of a dedicated individual to assume a non-tenure track faculty role as a Lecturer in Engineering Education.
Responsibilities:
This full-time position will encompass both instructional and service responsibilities within the Division of Engineering Leadership and Professional Practice at the Case School of Engineering.
We are looking for an exceptional candidate who is enthusiastic about undergraduate education and mentoring, with a strong commitment to engaging a diverse student population.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical knowledge and the ability to teach essential engineering subjects such as statics, circuits, and materials chemistry.
Much of the teaching will occur in our most popular courses, collaborating closely with a co-instructor. The envisioned collaboration entails the co-instructor managing course content and lectures, while the Lecturer in Engineering Education will handle course administration, including:
- Recruiting and mentoring teaching assistants
- Overseeing student engagement and satisfaction
- Providing additional support sessions and occasional lectures
- Ensuring a high-quality learning experience for all students
Furthermore, the candidate will have the opportunity to teach courses in their area of expertise as the primary instructor.
Additional Duties:
Responsibilities also include student advising, participation in university service, and active contributions to the educational objectives of the Case School of Engineering.
Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a PhD in engineering or a related discipline. Strong management, educational, organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities are crucial, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
