Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Pathologist to join our team at the Brandon School District. As a Speech and Language Pathologist, you will be responsible for providing therapeutic services to students with speech and language impairments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain compliance with Individualized Educational Plans for students on caseload and Medicaid.
  • Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement.
  • Provide a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of speech and hearing disabled children.
  • Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments.
  • Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, hearing and language impairments.
  • Assist in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate.
  • Provide appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual student needs and correct existing speech and language disabilities.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by suggestions to the student's daily activities.
  • Provide information, support and counseling to parents and families when appropriate.
  • Keep thorough ongoing records for the individual student receiving therapy or other school-provided speech services.
  • Maintain lists of referred, screened and eligible students as well as a directory of outside agencies, consultants, specialists and related services.
Requirements
  • Michigan Licensure in Speech and Language Pathology required, limited or full.
  • CCC or CFY applicants welcome.
  • Experience working with students with ASD and Applied Behavior Analysis preferred.
  • Experience in providing services utilizing the components of a Response to Intervention or MTSS model.
  • Experience facilitating the IEP process.
  • Trained in, or willing to be trained in, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
  • Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with students, parents and staff.
  • Experience using computers and educational technology.
