Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electronics Technician to join our team at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electronic systems, including fire alarm systems, parking control systems, and automatic doors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installs, diagnoses, repairs, services, alters, and maintains electronic systems, including fire alarm systems, parking control systems, and automatic doors.
  • Performs preventive maintenance work on building mechanical equipment.
  • Stays alert for safety violations by other employees that may injure those employees, this employee, or other persons in the area.
  • Plans, prices, and orders materials necessary for repairs using proper facility purchasing rules/regulations.
Requirements
  • Two years of experience in the maintenance or repair of mechanical or electronic office equipment, precision machinery, or electronic and electrical systems or in the installation, repair or maintenance of computer equipment or systems (hardware and/or software).
  • Training in a vocational-technical school or military school will substitute for the experience on the basis of one year of training for one year of experience.
  • College training with at least six semester hours per year in electronics or computer science will substitute for the experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience.
  • CompTIA A+ Certification will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work outdoors in all types of weather and within extreme temperature ranges. They will also be required to carry, erect, climb, and maneuver on ladders and/or scaffolds; work in tight and awkward spaces; work off of roofs, cat walks, and other elevated areas.
