Job Overview
Accountable for the strategic vision and leadership of the designated optical sales region, focusing on driving growth, profitability, and sales achievements.
Tasked with implementing strategic growth objectives, enhancing customer relationships, and guiding the sales team/account managers to meet defined goals and targets. Collaborate within a matrixed leadership framework to support branch managers in achieving service, quality, and financial performance metrics alongside the operations team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Propel sales growth, profitability, and overall success for the assigned region.
- Execute strategic growth initiatives, strengthen customer relationships, and lead the sales team/account managers to meet objectives and targets. Work collaboratively in a matrixed leadership model to support branch managers in achieving service, quality, and financial metrics.
- Lead and manage the regional sales team to accomplish sales and profit goals. Foster a strong sense of teamwork within the matrixed leadership structure with Sales Account Managers and Optical Lab Operations.- Coach, train, and motivate Account Managers to establish, maintain, and expand long-term business relationships with key clients, ensuring excellence and high service levels.
- Conduct interviews, hire, coach, train, evaluate, and implement necessary changes to meet territory, branch, and regional objectives. Ensure comprehensive training, orientation, development, engagement, and performance management. Maintain open communication and keep team members informed of company and departmental plans and progress.- Develop, implement, and execute strategies within the division to drive growth.
- Support Account Managers in effectively prospecting for new business opportunities; establish and drive strategic goals for each territory and branch.
- Identify and communicate customer needs within the region; collaborate with the sales operations department to create programs that address those needs and assist Account Managers and customers in executing these programs.
- Implement educational initiatives, promotional activities, and other consultative selling opportunities.- Collaborate with VP Operations/Operations Managers and Regional Operations Directors to ensure adherence to operational procedures aimed at maximizing branch productivity.
- Partner on feedback received to enhance operational excellence with a focus on quality, turnaround time, and service. Support the development and implementation of plans to establish profitable, efficient, and effective operations.- As a member of the optical leadership team, formulate and execute strategies, operational policies, and programs that enhance the division's and organization's competitive position and profitability.
- Collaborate with peers to ensure consistency and share best practices.Experience/Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business/marketing or a related field; MBA preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years in sales with progressively increasing responsibilities in complex sales environments.
- Experience selling to Eye Care Professionals is essential; experience managing P&L, sales and operations teams, and/or a business unit is required.
- Must possess strategic planning, exceptional leadership, development, and execution skills, along with technical/data analytics capabilities, strong communication, and interpersonal skills.- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required. Analytical skills are essential.
- In-depth knowledge of sales, marketing, distribution, and project planning.
- Proven ability to manage, coach, and enhance the performance of the sales and operations teams to support business growth and achievement of objectives.
- Ability to design and implement business strategies that address efficiency, quality, and growth targets. Demonstrated success in effective customer communication and customer relationship management/sales force administration.- Strong knowledge and expertise in medical devices, business, and budgeting.
- Ability to assist others in achieving their goals in a collaborative, team-oriented manner.
- Must be a problem solver, decisive, and results-oriented, with the ability to lead and inspire team members to achieve outcomes.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record that complies with company policy.
- Approximately 60% travel with overnight/weekend requirements.- Provide appropriate training, work direction, and technical guidance. Attend in-house or company-sponsored training sessions as necessary to ensure proper cross-training in all aspects of position requirements and maintain current knowledge of products and services.
