We are looking for a highly skilled Technical Director to lead the development of ground system architectures. In this role, you will work closely with government leaders to identify, elevate, and recommend new technologies and engineering techniques for current and future ground systems.

The Survivability and Resilience Office within the Advanced Technology Division is responsible for providing critical subject matter expertise to assist the government in architecting, developing, and verifying resilient space and ground systems. As a Technical Director, you will play a key role in shaping the future of space-based systems and ensuring their resilience against emerging threats.

This full-time position is based in Chantilly, VA, requiring 100% onsite work. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical leadership on program development and sustainment for software-intensive ground system-of-systems acquisitions
  • Overseeing Contractor software development and sustainment efforts, identifying potential risks and issues, and proposing innovative solutions to senior government staff
  • Analyzing impacts of Contractor-recommended changes and advising the government program office on alternative solutions and implementation strategies
  • Identifying opportunities for Aerospace-led studies and assessments to inform and guide government decision-making, leading these efforts, and communicating findings or recommendations
  • Coordinating and helping manage deliveries for a team of Aerospace subject matter experts
  • Representing the program office as a technical SME ready to lead Integrated Product Teams with program office and development Contractor personnel

To succeed in this role, you must possess a Bachelors degree in science, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical discipline, along with at least 12 years of experience in software development or major system acquisition. Additionally, you should be able to communicate complex topics effectively to senior leadership and demonstrate the ability to lead and manage complex tasks across multiple customer needs.
