About Tutor Doctor: As a premier tutoring service, we are dedicated to empowering students to reach their academic goals through customized, in-home educational sessions. Our objective is to provide students with the essential knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to excel in various subjects, particularly in preparation for standardized assessments like the SAT and ACT.

Role Overview: We seek a passionate and committed SAT/ACT Language Arts Tutor to become part of our team. Your primary role will involve delivering personalized instruction to high school students in their homes, focusing on improving their test scores by assessing their strengths and weaknesses, imparting effective test-taking strategies, and administering a minimum of three practice exams using materials provided through our partnership with Test Innovators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate individualized SAT/ACT tutoring sessions at students' homes.
  • Develop customized lesson plans tailored to each student's needs and goals.
  • Instruct on effective test-taking strategies, time management, and analytical skills.
  • Conduct practice tests and provide comprehensive feedback on student performance.
  • Track and communicate students' progress to parents and the organization.
  • Utilize Test Innovators' resources as the primary teaching materials.
  • Inspire and motivate students to achieve their target scores.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule, including availability during evenings and weekends as required.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in tutoring or teaching the Language Arts segment of the SAT/ACT.
  • Strong understanding of SAT/ACT content, structure, and test-taking strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to student achievement.
  • Reliable transportation for home visits.
  • Successful completion of a background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related discipline (not required)
  • At least two years of college education
  • Familiarity with online tutoring platforms
  • Knowledge of other standardized assessments such as the PSAT and AP exams
