Job Summary

UF Health is seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our team in the Renal Care Unit 7th Floor. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with healthcare needs, activities of daily living, and provide bedside care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Obtain and document vital signs and weight accurately, reporting abnormal results to the nurse and documenting on the electronic medical record.
  • Provide assistance with personal care, including bathing, dressing, dietary needs, and toileting, ensuring the security of patient personal items and reporting discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Document patient intake/output, send urine specimens to labs as ordered, perform daily phlebotomy as ordered, collect and label tubes properly using hospital protocol, and perform bedside glucose monitoring as instructed by the nurse.
  • Assist with admission, discharge, and transferring of patients, updating the hospital tracking system to reflect patient transfer.
  • Assist the nurse and/or physician with implementing treatment interventions, such as sterile and non-sterile soaks and/or dressings.
  • Provide for patient safety through preventative measures, including bed controls, nurse/patient communication system, and side rails.
  • Obtain supplies and equipment as needed for patients and restock supplies when needed, ensuring that all supplies used are properly charged to the patients.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required.
  • Hands-on patient care experience or 2nd semester RN student required.
  • CNA, EMT, or CMA license required within 1 year of hire.
  • Preferred experience: CNA, EMT, or CMA license.
