Job Summary

To provide high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services in a hospital and/or clinical setting, utilizing expertise in OB/GYN, abdominal, and vascular superficial structures. Perform clerical duties as required, promoting team concepts and reflecting the Kaiser Permanente Mission and philosophy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing diagnostic procedures, utilizing knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the age of the patient served, including routine, emergent, portable, and surgical examinations in accordance with department policies and procedures.
  • Communication with Radiologists.
  • Assisting patients and transporting them as needed.
  • Exam review, filing work, restocking supplies, and cleaning.
  • Quality Assurance functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Ultrasonographer Program at time of hire or 2 years of previous Ultrasound experience.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Ob-Gyn required at hire from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers OR Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Abdomen required at hire from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
  • Sonography Technologist License (Oregon).
  • Basic Life Support within 1 month of hire.
  • Additional Requirements: Oregon Board of Medical Imaging License required for positions assigned in Oregon (OBMI) ONLY.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum one (1) year experience performing Ultrasound exams, preferably within the last three (3) years.
  • Vascular Ultrasonographer experience preferred.
  • Organizational skills, time management, prioritization, planning; attention to detail; problem-solving, decision-making, judgment; technical skills; initiative; communication, interpersonal skills, customer relations, organizational relations.
  • Adaptability; following Policies and Procedures; flexibility.
  • Able to work unsupervised and perform exams independently and confidently.
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) ARDMS certification.
