Job Title: Mechanical Designer

As a Mechanical Designer at Actalent, you will be responsible for developing innovative and practical mechanical and electromechanical designs for components, assemblies, tools, and products of varying complexity.



You will collaborate closely with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality, and customers to define design specifications. Your designs will be free of layout process defects, and you will assist engineers in defining design standards and configurations.



You will apply Computer Aided Design (Creo 7) methodologies, theories, and techniques to create accurate and detailed designs. You will also review completed engineering documents to ensure compliance with engineering and military standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensions.



As a technical expert, you will provide consultation to the division and customer community, leveraging your comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of design and drafting. You will develop innovative concepts that meet functional and operational requirements for existing product lines and new product development programs using sound design principles and practices.



You will prepare drawing packages to military or equivalent standards and check completed layouts, drawings, test plans, test reports, procedures, and change history documentation for clarity, completeness, and conformance to engineering, military, and industrial standards, procedures, specifications, and codes.



You will evaluate completed drawings, specifications, and procedures for producibility and viability of design, appropriateness of tolerances, fits, finishes, and materials, and validate integration of equipment.



You will perform and document technical calculations such as design evaluations, tolerance studies, mass and section properties, static and dynamic loading.



You will identify assembly interference, design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend revisions and/or improvements in design.



You will interface with various internal customers to solve moderately complex technical problems.



Hard Skills:




  • Mechanical Design
  • AAS Degree in Drafting or Design
  • 3+ years CREO experience (Ideally 7.0 and newer)
  • Experience with sheet metal or plastics
  • GD&T
