Patient Care Technician-Outpatient Surgery Center

An unlicensed caregiver who maintains a safe and clean environment for patients and healthcare team members. This role involves transporting patients with proper technique, transporting equipment, supplies, and specimens, and providing environmental sanitation as required.
Key Responsibilities- Environmental Support:
- Transport specimens to appropriate departments per hospital standards.
- Clean all flat surfaces and floors in each operating room between surgical procedures.
- Clean all used surgical litters, stretchers, and redress them for use.
- Provide environmental sanitation as required by charge nurse.
- Provide as-needed environmental sanitation for common areas (e.g., bathrooms, break room).
- Daily Surgical Service:
- Prepare the operating rooms prior to the first surgical procedure of the day.
- Transport surgical patients to the operating room.
- Demonstrate good body mechanics and provide for patient safety when transferring, turning, lifting, or assisting in positioning patients.
- Perform other duties as assigned by operating room staff.
- Provide surgical skin preparation using proper equipment, techniques, and standardized guidelines.
- Ancillary Support:
- Responsible for daily testing and/or recording of results for mandated requirements (e.g., cidex sticks, refrigerator charts).
- Responsible for monthly inventory and control of expired surgical supplies.
- Restock all common areas, maintaining order, cleanliness, and stock levels.
- Transport supplies and equipment to and from other departments within the hospital.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Nursing Assistant Certificate (Washington) required at hire.
- Basic Life Support required at hire.
