Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Detention Officer to join our team at Eddy County, NM. As a Detention Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of residents, coordinating with law enforcement agencies, and performing a wide range of detention duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and monitor the behavior of residents in the Detention Center
  • Coordinate and cooperate with law enforcement agencies and judiciary agencies as necessary
  • Plan and perform detention duties to ensure the proper booking, incarceration, and safety of persons committed to the Detention Center
  • Inspect facilities for cleanliness and maintain a clean and sanitary environment
  • Identify and report conditions or practices that may compromise overall sanitation effectiveness
  • Maintain an inventory of sanitation supplies and inmate supplies
  • Transport prisoners to court and other appearances as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Working Conditions

The Detention Officer will work in a secure environment with frequent exposure to noise, stress, and potentially hazardous situations. The employee must be able to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
