Job Summary

Under general supervision, assists in coordinating, assigning, supervising and performing activities involved in inspection, preventive maintenance and regular and emergency repair of mechanical and electrical equipment necessary to pump, regulate, measure and assure the proper operation of water supply pump stations, water booster stations, pressure reducer devices, sewage lift stations and/or retention facilities located throughout Oakland County.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinates and assigns tasks to ensure efficient operation of water supply pump stations, water booster stations, pressure reducer devices, sewage lift stations and/or retention facilities.
  • Supervises and performs activities involved in inspection, preventive maintenance and regular and emergency repair of mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Makes recommendations to purchase equipment and assists in maintaining records and reports for supervision and government agencies.
  • Reviews plans for new facilities and assists in supervising chemical treatment of water sources to well systems.
  • Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.
  • May be required to work during emergencies, widespread storms, power outages and other operations and maintenance emergencies.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least five (5) years of full-time work experience in the installation, maintenance and/or repair of water and sewage pumps and related electric motors, at least one (1) year of which must have involved crew leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
  • Valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.
  • Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification.
  • Successfully complete the six month probationary period.
