SUMMARY

The Financial Controller will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for ensuring that the organization's financial objectives are achieved. This role involves maintaining the integrity of financial reporting systems and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Timely completion of month-end journal entries, balance sheet, and bank reconciliations.
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
  • Enhancement of internal controls and financial processes.
  • Management of data processing operations to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and company regulations in financial and accounting functions.
  • Assistance in treasury, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, and tax functions.
  • Preparation of financial reports for senior management review.
  • Support during internal and external audits.
  • Participation in special projects as required.
  • Adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety programs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee and evaluate the performance of accounting and payroll personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily. The following qualifications are preferred:

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • CPA or MBA in accounting/finance is highly preferred, with 5 years of relevant experience in senior management roles within organizations generating $100M in revenue; or
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance, with 10 years of relevant experience in senior management roles within organizations generating $100M in revenue.
  • Experience in accounting and financial analysis, including month-end closing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.
  • Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles, including GAAP.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and generate comprehensive reports.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex issues to all management levels.
  • Ability to work independently on special projects with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with construction contract terminology.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local financial regulations.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience with job cost, general ledger, and fixed asset systems.
  • Knowledge of financial and payroll software; familiarity with Viewpoint Vista is preferred.
  • Experience with P-Vault Enterprise Content Manager is advantageous.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

COMPENSATION RANGE: $110,000-$140,000 annually
