Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mortgage Underwriter to join our team. As a Senior Mortgage Underwriter, you will play a critical role in evaluating and processing loan applications, assessing the creditworthiness of borrowers, and ensuring compliance with lending guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Risk Analysis and Compliance: Conduct thorough risk analysis and review loans for compliance with regulatory requirements and investor guidelines.

  • Decision Rendering and Timely Processing: Render decisions within the department's service level agreement (SLA) and meet productivity and quality standards.

  • Automated Underwriting Systems Utilization: Utilize automated underwriting systems to assess risk, salability, and reduced documentation for borrowers.

  • Manual Underwriting Expertise: Apply manual underwriting requirements in decision-making for loans without automated approval.

  • Clear and Concise Communication: Clearly and concisely condition loans appropriately when rendering decisions.

  • Expertise and Coaching: Provide expertise and coaching to processing and production staff on training issues and automated underwriting systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • VA Automatic and DE Designation

  • LAPP SAR designation

  • Minimum of 5 years in mortgage industry to include 3 years of frontline underwriting of FHA/VA/Conventional loans

  • 2+ years of experience in mortgage software

  • Proficient in using standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)

  • Purchase transaction, specifically new construction experience preferred

  • Self-starter and able to work independently

  • Exceptional organizational abilities, keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • A genuine passion for delivering exceptional experiences to customers
