Job Summary

As a Procurement Supervisor at the University of California, San Francisco, you will be responsible for receiving assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet those goals. You will provide direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance, administering organizational policies that directly affect subordinate employees. You will also recommend changes to unit or sub-unit policies, and work with management to measure the meeting of objectives.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors, including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF.

For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to meet departmental needs
  • Manage and lead a team of purchasing professionals
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers
  • Ensure compliance with all University of California policies and state and federal regulations
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on purchasing procedures and policies
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience/training
  • 8 years of relevant progressive experience
  • Thorough knowledge of the purchasing function
  • Strong supervisory skills required to lead a purchasing team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills necessary to evaluate the cost effectiveness of purchasing options
