Job Title: Grid and Market Settlements Analyst

At Portland General Electric, we are seeking a highly skilled Grid and Market Settlements Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of energy market settlements within the California ISO.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect, organize, and interpret data from PGE's participation in the Energy Imbalance Market (EIM), PGE's portfolio of data-generating assets, as well as data available from the CAISO market participant portal, and publicly available reports and datasets.
  • Independently identify financial and operational improvement through complex analytics.
  • Provide actionable feedback on PGE's performance in the EIM to Power Operations, Grid, and management; follow changes to the Market rules (e.g., Western Energy Imbalance Market, Extended Day-Ahead Market) in order to identify needed changes to PGE operational systems.
Requirements:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in IT, finance, business, economics, engineering, or another science field.
  • Typically five or more years in the energy industry or a related field.
  • Experience in operational analytics preferred.
Competencies:
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of electric bulk power generation, transmission, and operating systems.
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of the electric utility industry and electric energy markets, including trading, scheduling procedures, state and federal policies and regulations, and underlying physical infrastructure and networks.
  • Intermediate/Advanced skills in statistical and numerical analysis.
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of grid reliability requirements and operations.
  • Intermediate/Advanced skills in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other analytics programs.
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of programming languages such as VB/VBA, C, Perl, Matlab, Mathematica, Python, Java, and SQL.

Compensation:

$87,225.00 - $173,875.00

Actual total compensation, including a performance-based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity.
