Job Title: Assistant Manager

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Manager to join our team at Lush Handmade Cosmetics. As an Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Shop Manager in all business areas, including sales, customer service, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:
  • Sales and Customer Experience:
    • Collaborate with your team to exceed daily sales goals and provide a unique and inclusive customer experience.
    • Educate customers and staff on our brand values and articulate our position on key issues.
    • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our products and make informed recommendations to customers.
    • Drive sales through strong business acumen and understanding of metrics, budgets, and reports.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead by example and support your team on the sales floor, answering questions and removing obstacles.
    • Develop and train staff through positive coaching and feedback.
    • Recruit and select top-performing staff and support their growth and development.
    • Collaborate with your Manager to create and execute plans that improve staff engagement, retention, and performance.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Support your Manager in maintaining a compliant shop and ensuring staff adhere to company standards.
    • Manage inventory and ordering to ensure the right products are in stock at the right times.
    • Ensure a clean and beautiful work environment and follow merchandising and design standards.
    • Schedule staff effectively to meet peak demands and ensure breaks and meals are allocated and recorded accurately.
Requirements:
  • 1-3 years managing or supervising in a retail environment.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Strong customer service, supervisory, and sales skills.
  • Knowledge and interest in skincare, natural beauty, and ethical business.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including holidays, evenings, and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with consultation-based customer service models.
  • Ability to develop and train staff through positive coaching and feedback.
  • Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Suite, and adaptable to other systems as required.
  • Basic HR skills in hiring, scheduling, training, and performance management.
  • Experience in cross-cultural collaboration and DEIB or social justice training.
  • Fluency in Spanish, French, or other languages.
