Job Title: Senior Monitoring Specialist

Join the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority team as a Senior Monitoring Specialist and contribute to the design, development, operation, and maintenance of the Authority's Water and Wastewater Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the design, development, installation, and troubleshooting of control logic for programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and control system software.
  • Collaborate in the design, development, installation, and troubleshooting of Human Machine Interface (HMI) software.
  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the SCADA network and SCADA personal computers.
  • Ensure compliance with the SCADA Standards.
  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of SCADA security systems.
  • Train staff on the monitoring and control systems.
  • Update records and documentation on SCADA network, PC, and PLC installations.
  • Manage SCADA databases and coordinate necessary changes.
  • Maintain SCADA data backups through local node collection and networked archive collection systems.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Three to five years of experience in the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of process control systems.
  • Working knowledge of ladder logic and HMI programming.
  • Thorough knowledge of PCs, Windows operating systems, Ethernet, network equipment, spreadsheet, and database software.
  • Ability to troubleshoot to the component level using electronic test equipment and computer-driven diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with water distribution and treatment systems or wastewater collection and treatment systems.
  • Thorough understanding of control system instrumentation.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic wiring practices.
  • Familiarity with CAD (computer-aided design) program.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects, direct, and train others.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Special Requirements:
  • Valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
  • Any level of a valid Massachusetts Water Distribution License, Water Treatment License, Wastewater Operator's License, or Wastewater Collection System Certification, or the ability to obtain within six months.
  • Ability to pass the Confined Space Entry Training within six months.
  • Participate in call rotation assignments if needed.
