Job Title: Assistant Teacher

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Teacher to join our team at the Atlanta Children's Day Shelter. As an Assistant Teacher, you will work closely with the Lead Teacher to provide a nurturing and engaging environment for young children. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with daily activities, implementing the curriculum, and providing meaningful instruction and age-appropriate experiences for children.

Responsibilities:

* Implement the curriculum and provide instruction that encourages and supports intellectual growth
* Work closely with the Lead Teacher to plan and execute daily activities and experiences
* Provide adequate supervision and maintain a safe and secure environment for children
* Assist with student assessments and provide daily feedback to the Lead Teacher
* Nurture, listen to, and discipline children in a way that promotes positive behavior

Requirements:

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Computer proficiency (MS Office - Word and Outlook)
* High school diploma or GED
* CDA, TCC, or AA degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
* At least 2 years of experience working with children younger than six years old, preferably in a state-licensed childcare facility
