Job Overview
Responsible for executing operational tasks within the Financial Aid Office. Provides guidance to students, prospective students, and other stakeholders. Confirms applicant details and allocates financial aid awards. Acts as a key resource for the department. Work is conducted under general oversight, with performance evaluated based on task completion and outcomes achieved. Evaluations are carried out through the performance assessment system in line with University Policies & Procedures.

REPORTING STRUCTURE
Reports to: Financial Aid Administrator
Supervises: May oversee clerical staff and Student Assistants

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Conducts verification for selected applicants.
  • Advises applicants and families regarding financial aid information and application procedures.
  • Monitors College Work Study earnings to ensure compliance with award limits.
  • Trains and oversees student assistants.
  • Facilitates financial aid information sessions.
  • Delivers formal financial aid presentations, both on-campus and off-campus.
  • Reviews NSLDS student monitoring reports.
  • Examines unconverted records reports & ISIRs.
  • Evaluates applications and determines awards, subject to administrative review.
  • Assists in assessing satisfactory academic progress.
  • Provides support in cases requiring professional judgment for special circumstances affecting financial aid eligibility and cost of attendance.
  • Helps resolve loan discrepancies and reconciliation issues.
  • Handles electronic fund transfers and processes fund cancellations.
ADDITIONAL TASKS
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS - Essential skills include:
  • Proficiency in using a 10-key calculator by touch.
  • Understanding of current financial aid needs analysis methodologies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Skill in interacting with students and clients in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Effective communication skills - orally, by phone, in person, and in writing.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations for information presentations.
  • Competence in using personal computers and office equipment, including relevant university software and email.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee may be required to travel. The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.

One year of general financial aid experience is required.
