Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

Your role will encompass a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Conducting comprehensive transportation planning studies and traffic impact assessments.
  • Executing and analyzing travel demand models, particularly utilizing EMME.
  • Performing microsimulation and mesoscopic modeling, along with dynamic traffic assignments.
  • Assisting in the collection and analysis of traffic data.
  • Drafting technical memoranda and reports to communicate findings effectively.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess:
  • A solid understanding of travel demand modeling principles and advanced methodologies.
  • Experience in leveraging large datasets to model travel behavior.
  • Familiarity with both activity-based and trip-based forecasting models.
  • Proficiency in travel demand modeling software, especially EMME, with experience in Cube and TransCAD being advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Independence in managing tasks while also being an effective team player.
  • Experience with data visualization tools and programming languages such as Python, Java, or C is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with standard business applications like Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with GIS software is a beneficial addition.
Education and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:
  • A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, City and Regional Planning, Operations Research, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in transportation engineering, modeling, or planning.
