Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Percussion Tutor to join our team at the Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. This is a part-time position that requires a professional with 2 years of teaching experience and expertise in music education.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching percussion instruments, including snare rudiments, timpani, drumkit, and auxiliary percussion instruments. Experience with marching, concert, and auxiliary percussion is also essential.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct small group lessons focusing on ensemble playing, intonation, balance, blend, and stylistic accuracy.
  • Prepare students for performances and monitor their progress.
  • Encourage and facilitate group practice sessions and maintain accurate records of each student's progress and attendance.
  • Communicate regularly with students and the Music Director regarding student progress and upcoming performances.
Compensation and Benefits
