About the Job

This role as a Software Engineering Lead at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. in Lewis Center, OH offers a rare combination of technical expertise and leadership opportunities. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams, designing and developing software applications, and collaborating with engineers to deliver innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain software applications in a Linux environment.
  • Design, develop, and manage databases to support software applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software.
  • Write clean, scalable, and well-documented code in various programming languages, including C, Python, and Go.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in full-stack development, modern CI/CD pipelines & with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Linux programming.
  • Proven experience with Linux shell scripting.
  • Strong experience in database design, development, and management (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Proficiency in web development using popular web frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask, or similar).
  • Extensive knowledge of programming languages including C, C++, Python, and Go.
  • Containerization Experience: Proven experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for developing, deploying, and managing applications in containerized environments.
  • In-depth understanding of Linux operating systems and kernel development.
  • Solid understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git).
