El papel principal del LPN es proporcionar apoyo clínico, bajo la dirección de los supervisores clínicos y/o profesionales de RN, para garantizar un flujo de pacientes fluido y la satisfacción de médicos y pacientes.

Actúa como un enlace entre los pacientes y el proveedor. Administra medicamentos y tratamientos según las órdenes de RN y completa todas las tareas asignadas.

Funciones Esenciales del Trabajo:
  • Demuestra conocimiento y competencia en la realización de tratamientos y procedimientos asignados de acuerdo con los estándares y políticas establecidos.
Sigue el plan de atención según lo indicado por el RN y/o supervisores clínicos.

Ejemplos de Responsabilidades:
  • Cumple con las órdenes apropiadas del médico.
  • Observa, informa y ayuda a satisfacer las necesidades del paciente según el plan de atención.
  • Registra signos vitales, ingesta y salida y otras responsabilidades relacionadas.
  • Apoya/refuerza la educación del paciente y la planificación del alta.
  • Asiste a los pacientes con la higiene personal, nutrición y actividades diarias.
  • Utiliza y cuida adecuadamente el equipo técnico y los suministros.
  • Asiste a los médicos con tratamientos médicos, exámenes y procedimientos quirúrgicos apropiados para la unidad.
  • Informa de manera oportuna y precisa los cambios en la condición del paciente, incluidos cambios en los signos vitales y/o niveles de azúcar en sangre.
Entrega la hoja de asignación para evaluación.
  • Adapta el horario de trabajo para satisfacer las necesidades de la unidad.
Asegura que se cumplan las necesidades de personal a través de la disposición a flotar.
  • Participa adecuadamente en situaciones de emergencia.
Asiste y tranquiliza a pacientes y familias.
  • Las asignaciones se completan con precisión con la orientación supervisora adecuada.
  • Completa las actividades relacionadas con el paciente dentro de los períodos de tiempo programados.
  • Demuestra el conocimiento y las habilidades necesarias para proporcionar atención, basándose en criterios físicos, psicosociales, educativos, de seguridad y relacionados, apropiados para la edad de los pacientes atendidos en el área de servicio asignada.
  • Completa adecuadamente la recolección de datos, el plan de atención y la intervención en la atención del paciente.
Utiliza los sistemas de información de datos de manera adecuada.
  • La práctica clínica refleja con precisión el Código de Ética, la Junta de Enfermería y las regulaciones del Departamento de Salud de Nueva Jersey, JCAHO y las políticas y procedimientos institucionales, promoviendo la ética y estándares profesionales.
