Job Summary
Assist leadership in managing a portfolio of real estate holdings acquired by the Office. Prepare requests for proposals, qualifications, and invitations for bids for contractors to deliver services. Supervise contracts for property upkeep, consultants, demolition, construction, and various activities. Ensure routine maintenance and security of all assets while serving as the primary contact for assigned properties. Assess properties and support planning for potential acquisitions and subsequent redevelopment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree.
- Four (4) years of experience in managing property or real estate assets or directly related experience is required.
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience is acceptable.
- A valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance are required.
Candidates who are contacted will need to provide original required documents (e.g., current driver's license, diploma, school transcript, certifications, etc.) listed on the Notice of Job Opportunity within five (5) days of receiving a written offer from the Bureau Chief of BHR (or designee). Candidates will be informed on how to submit required documents.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Familiarity with building codes, procurement policies, regulations, and community development in the Chicago metropolitan area, along with knowledge of assets in comparison to competitors regarding pricing, location, amenities, and unit finishes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and property management software.
- Understanding of property strategy and operations during the disposition process, new acquisitions, and developments, as well as knowledge of relevant building trades and contractor roles in the asset management process.
- Ability to travel moderately to extensively for work assignments, providing adequate means of transportation.
- Capability to independently plan site visits, water meter readings, and point-of-sale inspections in the area of specialization to meet organizational objectives.
- Ability to provide comprehensive insight, advice, and expertise to other professionals, management, and external contacts in an assigned functional area.
- Ability to function as a senior team member and communicate advanced specialized knowledge to team members, leaders, and external stakeholders.
