Job Overview

This role is situated within the Oklahoma Human Services.

Position Title: Lead Legal Counsel V - E80E

Compensation: $110,000 Annually, inclusive of Full State Employee Benefits

Essential Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a Juris Doctor degree from a recognized law institution, a valid license to practice law in the State of Oklahoma, and active membership in the Oklahoma Bar Association. Additionally, a minimum of nine (9) years of legal practice is required, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.

Key Responsibilities

  • This role will primarily address employment-related legal issues for the Department, while also engaging in civil rights and tort cases in both state and federal jurisdictions (including administrative, district, and appellate court levels).
  • Depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate, this position may also serve as the HIPAA Compliance Officer, necessitating the acquisition of relevant certification(s).
  • The responsibilities of this role demand proficient writing, analytical, and communication skills to evaluate potential disciplinary actions, provide legal representation, and offer counsel as required.
  • The successful applicant must demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and be prepared to manage a defined caseload that encompasses both administrative and litigation matters across a spectrum of legal challenges.
