Position Summary
The Facilities Technician Supervisor (Commercial HVAC) will collaborate closely with the Facilities Manager to establish a premier HVAC service operation that prioritizes exceptional customer satisfaction. This role will serve as the technical authority, providing direct support and expertise on service requests while ensuring the optimal performance of HVAC systems across our facilities. The supervisor will oversee the maintenance and repair of various HVAC systems, including large chilled water systems, air-cooled chillers, and geothermal heat pumps, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Development
- Promote and uphold a culture of safety within the organization.
- Assess and mentor team members on performance metrics and objectives.
- Identify and recommend technical training needs for staff.
- Guide and support the commercial HVAC service team to ensure the use of current technologies and high-quality workmanship.
- Coordinate with scheduling personnel to optimize HVAC service staff assignments.
- Identify and rectify issues in various heating and cooling systems, including chillers and rooftop units.
- Repair or replace controls, thermostats, and electrical components as necessary.
- Connect and wire motors and sensors according to established schematics.
- Maintain compliance with federal EPA regulations regarding refrigerant management.
- Complete work orders efficiently and maintain accurate records of materials and labor.
- Conduct inspections to identify necessary repairs on equipment.
- Respond to urgent service calls as required.
- Perform routine maintenance to ensure all tools and equipment are in optimal condition.
- Utilize energy management systems to monitor and control energy consumption in facilities.
- Implement preventative maintenance schedules for all HVAC systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety and technical standards by all team members and subcontractors.
- Assist in preparing proposals and budgets for HVAC projects.
- Support the Facilities Manager in conducting energy efficiency assessments to optimize HVAC energy use.
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in the commercial HVAC industry.
2-year Technical Degree/Certification or High School diploma/GED with relevant work experience.
Ability to troubleshoot HVAC system issues effectively and communicate solutions clearly.
Proficient in interpreting mechanical schematics.
Possession of a Texas air conditioning and refrigeration contractor license.
