Position Overview:

The Nurse Practitioner plays a vital role in assessing and managing patients within the Vascular Interventional service across both inpatient and outpatient environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide balanced coverage in both hospital and clinic settings alongside another physician extender.
  • Conduct thorough medical histories and physical examinations for all inpatient consultations.
  • Prepare comprehensive pre-procedure history and physical notes as required for outpatient interventions.
  • Perform rounds and document patient progress following procedures.
  • Coordinate all necessary follow-up care after procedures.
  • Order relevant laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging, and additional procedures.
  • Review and verify all laboratory and diagnostic results, ensuring timely communication with the supervising physician.
  • Identify and critically evaluate any changes in patient conditions, reporting findings to the physician as necessary.
  • Manage follow-up appointments in the clinic to ensure continuity of care.
  • Possess the ability to interpret basic ultrasound, X-ray, CT scans, etc., as needed.
  • This role does not involve procedural tasks.

Educational Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program is required.

Experience and Skills:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience is preferred, particularly in vascular interventional settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Exhibit behaviors that demonstrate understanding, emotional resilience, patience, tact, and respect for individual differences.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Current licensure in the State of Georgia is mandatory.
  • Certification in BLS and ACLS is required.
  • Compliance with Georgia's regulations regarding prescriptive privileges is essential.
  • Possession of a Georgia DEA is necessary.
