At Howard University Hospital, we are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and has a strong background in ultrasound technology.

Job Summary:

The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist will be responsible for performing a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures using ultrasound equipment. This includes directing high-frequency sound waves at prescribed areas of the body to capture quality images that describe tissue composition, shape, and motion. The successful candidate will also provide direct patient care, assess patient condition, position patients and equipment, prepare patients for procedures, and continually monitor and record vital signs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures using ultrasound equipment
  • Provide direct patient care, including assessing patient condition and ability to cooperate
  • Position patients and equipment, prepare patients for procedures, and continually monitor and record vital signs
  • Summarize, document, verify, and present images, findings, calculations, and measurements to physicians for diagnoses
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services
  • Verify operational status of equipment prior to daily utilization
  • Participate in quality improvement activities to ensure continuous improvement of services
  • Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, standards, and protocols to ensure effective departmental operations and quality patient care

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess an Associate's Degree (AA) in Radiology or equivalent from a two-year college or hospital-based program. Two years' experience in Ultrasound is desired, with ARDMS and BLS certification required. Certification in General, Vascular, and OBGYN is also desired.
