Job Title: Quality Assurance and Food Safety Supervisor

At Bento, we are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance and Food Safety Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our quality assurance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the consistent quality of our production and plant sanitation by developing and enforcing above-standard manufacturing practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement GMP and HACCP programs to ensure regulatory compliance and consistency with company policies and procedures.
  • Lead the QA team in training, coaching, and developing QA technicians, including identifying training needs, providing opportunities for personal growth, and assessing performance goals.
  • Provide leadership during audits and assist in managing direct reports, including preparing recommendations for team development.
  • Maintain records of finished product specifications, SOPs, SSOPs, QA forms, and other relevant documentation.
  • Create training materials to support GMP/HACCP/Sanitation programs and provide routine employee training on quality, regulatory, and food safety principles and policies.
  • Review plant issues, ensure problems are resolved, and follow up on customer/supplier complaints with corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Implement quality enhancement processes and procedures at the plant level to achieve process improvements and cost savings.
  • Manage direct reports, including QA technicians, and prepare recommendations for team development.
  • Oversee facility sanitation through monitoring of environmental swabbing and communicate with the Sanitation team on any identified cleaning issues.
  • Review internal/external testing results for raw materials, finished products, and other relevant data.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a college diploma in Food Science or a related field. Preferred 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance.
  • Required to have GFSI experience (SQF is an asset), PCQI certification.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate up and down the organization.
  • Previous leadership experience preferably in a Food Processing facility.
  • Disciplined, motivated, and accountable for all Quality Assurance matters.
  • Strong systems skills (including MS Office).
