Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer/Project Manager to join our Community Design Team at Wade Trim. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing construction staff, managing day-to-day construction duties, and ensuring compliance with approved plans and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide oversight of construction staff in Traverse City and Gaylord offices.
  • Manage CM inspection staff and deliver daily inspection reports in accordance with clients' requirements.
  • Review construction work progress daily and conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications.
  • Manage CM staff responsible for record keeping, general correspondence, and compiling and drafting of required reports and deliverables.
  • Manage the Contractor payment process and recommend adjustments as necessary.
  • Ensure overall site safety, permit condition compliance, and coordination with other stakeholders.
  • Communicate with staff, contractors, and clients to effectively lead progress, project, safety, and scheduling during construction.
  • Monitor Contractor performance, schedule, overall responsiveness, and effectiveness.
  • Generate project correspondence, including responses to Contractor inquiries, in a timely manner.
  • Act as liaison to design staff to respond to Contractors' RFI's and review of shop drawings.
  • Collaborate amongst client, contractor(s), design engineers, and third-party stakeholders to successfully progress construction projects to completion.
  • Mentor, supervise, and provide direction for less experienced staff.
  • Review design and bidding documents for completeness, constructability, and biddability.
  • Perform construction administration, schedule analyses, change order development, negotiation, and processing, as required.
  • Lead development of construction management pursuits and proposals, guiding pursuit team on vision, approach, teaming, staffing, and pricing.
  • Design civil projects, including water mains, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, roads, bridges, utility/miscellaneous infrastructure improvement designs, etc.
  • Develop and complete applications, permits, engineering reports, and specifications.
  • Prepare and review engineer estimates, design cost estimates, and project status reports.
  • Conduct research and development for projects, monitor task budget and progress, and communicate project details with other design engineers.
  • Conduct project cost reviews, promote sales, and prepare and review scope, budget, and schedule for project tasks.
  • Assist with proposals, marketing, project reports, and technical presentations, conduct on-site inspections as needed, and attend client and project meetings.
  • Maintain excellent client relations, a safe working environment, and adhere to company policies and procedures.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required.
  • 10+ years of design experience required.
  • Professional Engineer registration required.
