Position Overview:
As a Senior Configuration Specialist, you will utilize your extensive knowledge of configuration management (CM) methodologies throughout the various stages of system development and operational life cycles, encompassing both hardware and software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and manage configuration items (CIs) while implementing robust change control and maintaining accurate configuration status records.
- Engage in review boards and assess process change proposals, ensuring adherence to change management protocols.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to establish and uphold configuration baselines for software, hardware, and documentation across development, testing, and production environments.
- Adapt CM plans and procedures to align with the specific complexities and requirements of the systems being developed or operated.
- Implement CM practices throughout the entire system life cycle, from initial requirements to end-of-life considerations.
- Work closely with engineering, development, testing, cybersecurity, and support teams to capture change requests and maintain authorized baseline configurations.
- Document and track all issues and modifications in product documentation and software, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors to anticipate changes in hardware and software configurations, facilitating necessary updates to development and engineering teams.
- Utilize or recommend automated CM tools to enhance the implementation of CM policies and procedures.
- Conduct quality assurance on all CM deliverables, manage data within CM and logistics tools, and produce comprehensive reports on hardware, software, and logistics.
- Independently manage CM tasks or projects to ensure timely completion and enhance the CM database for streamlined operations.
- Apply advanced consulting skills and extensive technical expertise to develop innovative solutions for complex challenges.
- Mentor and guide team members, fostering a collaborative environment.
Essential Qualifications:
- Proven experience with CM tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead or actively participate in change control boards (CCBs).
- Track record of optimizing CM processes for efficiency and continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with CM standards.
- Possession of a Secret clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with tools such as Cameo or MagicDraw.
- Background in Agile software development methodologies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational capabilities.
Clearance Requirements:
Applicants selected for this position will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information; a Secret clearance is mandatory.
