The Science and Engineering PAL Leader plays a crucial role in fostering academic success among students. This part-time, non-benefited position involves collaborating with faculty and supporting students in their learning journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend scheduled class meetings, assisting in laboratories and participating in both remote and in-person sessions.
- Maintain regular communication with faculty members to discuss student progress and concerns.
- Exemplify positive academic behaviors and attitudes to encourage a productive learning environment.
- Address student concerns and facilitate referrals to appropriate academic support services.
- Organize and lead two study sessions weekly, adapting to the availability of enrolled students.
- Guide students in developing effective time management, note-taking, and exam preparation strategies to enhance their academic performance.
- Monitor student attendance and submit weekly study session plans through the designated online platform.
- Assist students in navigating course materials and submitting assignments electronically.
- Provide ongoing support to students via online platforms, email, or in-person meetings.
- Share tips for effective communication with professors to aid student success.
- Clarify course expectations and requirements for students.
- Distribute and collect feedback through various PAL-related surveys.
- Ensure access to all relevant course materials, including textbooks and online resources.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of the relevant course with a grade of B or higher.
- Endorsement from the faculty member overseeing the PAL course.
Compensation:
Compensation is based on a part-time schedule of 10 hours per week at a competitive hourly rate.
