Montefiore Medical Center is seeking a skilled Clinical Laboratory Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing routine and emergency tests on blood and other body fluids using automated and manual instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a variety of laboratory tests, including blood and urine analysis, to ensure accurate and timely results.
- Monitor specimens and equipment to ensure optimal performance and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
- Review and report test results, including panic and abnormal values, to ensure accurate and timely communication with healthcare providers.
- Maintain quality control data and resolve any QC failures, documenting actions as stipulated by laboratory procedures.
- Prepare reagents and take inventory, advising supervisors as required.
- Assist with training new employees and provide leadership for laboratory technicians as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to Infection Control guidelines.
- Bachelor's degree in a physical science or medical technology preferred.
- New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or a limited permit required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of laboratory and hospital information system computers, automated equipment, and other laboratory equipment.
This position is located at the Moses campus in the Chemistry Lab. The hours are 12:00 am-8:30am with alternate weekends.
