The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Miami Health System presents a remarkable opportunity for a full-time position within the Clinician-Educator track, available at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Clinical. This role involves delivering comprehensive Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery services across various healthcare facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in didactic and clinical education, supervising OMFS residents while providing direct patient care, surgical interventions, consultative services, outpatient care, and managing hospitalized patients as part of the faculty practice. This includes on-call responsibilities, involvement in research, and collaborative efforts.
  • Uphold the mission of UHealth by contributing to medical education, advancing research, and ensuring high-quality patient care.
  • Participate actively in local, regional, national, and international initiatives within the healthcare sector that influence the future funding landscape of the Division.
  • Involve in the Oral Surgery Service and residency training at affiliated institutions.
  • Collaborate on significant departmental activities as designated by the Division Chief.
  • Deliver clinical care encompassing all facets of oral and maxillofacial surgery while fostering teamwork with fellow physicians in the division.
  • Oversee resident training at both the University of Miami and affiliated healthcare systems, including teaching responsibilities for students in elective surgical programs.
  • Pursue funding opportunities for research initiatives under personal supervision.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all services provided in patient medical records.
  • Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and hospital bylaws.
  • Exercise final medical judgment in all healthcare-related matters.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have completed a CODA-accredited advanced education program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and be board-certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS).
  • A broad scope of experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery is essential.
  • Completion of a fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Oncologic Surgery and Microvascular Reconstruction is required.
  • Candidates must possess an MD and DDS or DMD and hold valid licenses to practice both dentistry and medicine in the United States.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary, along with a proactive attitude, adaptability, and a commitment to the department's mission while maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards.
