  • Conduct pre-registration for scheduled admissions and outpatient procedures, ensuring authorization and insurance eligibility are verified.
  • Interview patients or their representatives for unscheduled admissions to gather personal information and confirm existing data.
  • Obtain necessary signatures on admission forms and provide relevant information regarding billing, patient rights, and hospital policies.
  • Ensure the safe handling of patients' valuables during the admission process.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, nursing staff, and other departments to address patient needs.
  • Collect co-payments when applicable and maintain accurate records of transactions.
  • Stay informed about hospital services and policies to assist patients appropriately.
  • Maintain confidentiality and treat all patients and their families with respect and dignity.
  • Utilize customer service skills to address patient inquiries and concerns calmly.
  • Complete daily quality improvement logs and resolve any system errors promptly.
  • Answer phone calls professionally and relay information to the appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure that documentation complies with current standards and policies.
  • Manage supplies and equipment safely and efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Prior experience in an office setting or in patient admissions/medical insurance is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with general office equipment and medical terminology is advantageous.
  • Proficient in basic Microsoft Office applications or willing to learn.
  • Strong multitasking abilities to handle various responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to analyze situations and respond appropriately.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to manage multiple patient registrations and admissions.
  • Exposure to various environmental conditions typical in a healthcare setting.
  • Physical capability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
