Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Engineer I to join our team at SOLTESZ. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for working on a variety of civil engineering projects, including land development construction documents, zoning plans, and site grading design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Development: Prepare land development construction drawings and documents, including roadway design, utility design, and site design, under the supervision of the assigned Project Manager.
  • Design and Drafting: Assist in the preparation of zoning, preliminary, and concept land development plans, and perform site grading design and drafting to ensure value engineering is achieved through earthwork analysis and site safety is accomplished through the use of appropriate design slopes and drainage considerations.
  • Soil Erosion and Sediment Control: Design and draft soil erosion and sediment control measures, including stability calculations, Best Management Practices, swale design, spillway design, and determination of construction sequence.
  • Quantity Calculations: Calculate quantities to be used in construction cost estimates.
  • Research and Compliance: Research and understand standards and codes required by clients and jurisdictions through interaction with necessary personnel to accurately and efficiently develop designs.
  • Plan Processing: Process design plan documents through local, state, and federal approving agencies.
Requirements
  • Drafting Experience: Microstation and/or AutoCAD drafting experience.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-Motivation and Detail Orientation: Self-motivated and detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required, with 5-10 years' experience in civil/site land planning and engineering.
  • Location: Experience in Maryland and/or Southern Maryland preferred but not required.
