Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Ochsner Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the overall provision of respiratory care, including planning, developing, and implementing respiratory care programs.
  • Set up and monitor respiratory and PAP therapy equipment, ensuring patient safety and compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and patients, providing education and support on proper use of equipment.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and resolve patient issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Adapt behavior to meet the specific needs of each patient population, demonstrating respect for privacy and individuality.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Science or related field.
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved school of respiratory therapy.
  • Current valid state license/certification as a Certified Respiratory Therapist.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support Certification through American Heart Association.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Knowledge of respiratory equipment and ability to operate safely.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to patient homes and facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) therapy (CPAP or BIPAP).
  • Fluency in other languages.

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Mechanical lifting devices (carts, dollies, etc.) or team lifts should be utilized. Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities.
