Position Overview: The Educator Preparation Analyst plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of educator preparation and the collection of relevant data by working collaboratively on the functional design and deployment of the Educator Certification Online System (ECOS). This position is essential in identifying operational solutions, addressing service requests from educator preparation programs (EPPs), and developing training materials for EPPs.
Key Responsibilities:
- ECOS Management: Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) to liaise with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and EPP users, ensuring system requirements are met, conducting user acceptance testing, and facilitating training for new or updated systems.
- Program Assistance: Provide continuous support to EPPs and TEA by managing administrative tasks within ECOS and resolving operational challenges related to system functionality.
- Data Analysis: Collaborate with various TEA teams to generate insightful data and reports pertinent to educator preparation, thereby supporting the functions of the Educator Preparation team.
- Certificate Transition Support: Act as the SME for the Educator Preparation team during the implementation and transition phases of new certification processes.
- Team Collaboration: Assist the Educator Preparation team with various functions as required.
Qualifications:
- Education: A degree from an accredited four-year institution.
- Licenses: Preferred educator certification.
- Experience: Minimum of three years in a systems support capacity.
- Substitutions: An advanced degree may replace two years of required experience.

- Commitment to the belief that all students can achieve high standards.
- Proficiency in various technology tools, including spreadsheet creation and presentation software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot system issues.
- Experience in supporting data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships across the organization.
- Highly organized with the capacity to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Familiarity with Texas Education Code and regulations related to educator standards.
