Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop layout and manufacturing schematics in accordance with established Engineering and Manufacturing Standards.
  • Offer technical design assistance to the Project Leader.
  • Oversee and mentor design teams and individual designers as necessary.
  • Comprehend project scope, timelines, and budget constraints, ensuring adherence to these parameters.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews, considering the integration of various engineering disciplines.
  • Adhere to established project control protocols.
  • Prepare necessary project documentation, including transmittals and drawing requests.
  • Engage directly with clients regarding all project-related matters.
  • Manage individual project assignments effectively.
  • Collaborate with designers on projects involving process improvements, machinery upgrades, piping, and utilities.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in creating and interpreting Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID).
  • Design components for machinery, HVAC systems, piping, and steam and compressed air distribution.
  • Assess total design requirements for project estimation and management, including schedules and budgets, while accurately tracking project expenditures.
  • Identify and communicate scope changes to clients as needed.
  • Direct and train Designers, CAD Operators, Technicians, and fellow Engineers as required.
  • Interface effectively with construction supervisors on-site.
  • Conduct comprehensive project design tasks, including field equipment audits, existing drawing revisions, project scope documentation, start-up procedures, and on-site start-up and troubleshooting, along with operator training when necessary.
  • Experience in paper manufacturing or converting is advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD is a plus.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering is required.
  • A PE License in the State of GA is preferred, along with any other necessary state licenses.
