Job Summary

The YMCA of the North is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Outdoor Education Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our Outdoor Education & Adventure Program, you will be responsible for facilitating environmental and outdoor recreation activities, as well as team-building programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and prepare for programs, ensuring a high-quality experience for participants
  • Facilitate environmental and outdoor recreation activities, including hiking, climbing, and team-building initiatives
  • Develop and maintain relationships with program participants, school teachers, and chaperones
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of participants at all times
  • Participate in staff training and meetings to stay up-to-date on program developments and best practices
Requirements
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Minimum of one year of experience in camp, youth, or recreation programs working with children and adults
  • Effective organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and adapt to changing circumstances
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Related educational background in environmental education, outdoor recreation, or a related field
  • Knowledge of environmental and natural history concepts
  • Experience facilitating high ropes and low ropes courses
  • Basic computer skills
