POSITION SUMMARY:
The Retail Operations Supervisor Trainee is tasked with acquiring comprehensive knowledge of retail store management under the mentorship of a Store Manager or District Manager. This role focuses on mastering the financial and operational processes essential for effective store management.
Within a 90-day period, the trainee is expected to achieve full competency in managerial duties and is prepared to assume Store Manager responsibilities within the local area when the opportunity arises.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver an outstanding customer service experience across all interaction channels by adhering to GNC's established sales techniques; strive to meet or surpass corporate goals and performance metrics.
- Promote GNC's loyalty programs and customer engagement initiatives effectively.
- Track top-selling products, recognize customer demand, and communicate trends to the Store Manager.
- Foster community involvement and customer loyalty through innovative outreach strategies.
- Review merchandising bulletins to stay informed about product offerings and respond to inquiries with company-approved information.
- Lead and motivate the store team under the guidance of the Store Manager; set sales objectives and enhance team performance through constructive feedback and succession planning for high achievers.
- Engage with training materials and complete assigned modules to gain product knowledge and respond to inquiries based on company-approved information.
- Safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with ethical standards.
- Collaborate with the Store Manager to resolve escalated customer service issues and assist in monitoring loss prevention activities.
- Maintain a clean and organized store environment.
- Execute all register functions, including daily operations and bank deposits, in accordance with company policies.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
The trainee will independently learn to:
- Oversee staffing and training efforts.
- Manage employee schedules within budgetary constraints for optimal store coverage.
- Recruit, train, and manage employee performance.
- Implement visual merchandising standards accurately and promptly.
- Manage inventory in line with GNC guidelines, ensuring efficient handling of merchandise.
- Adhere to quality control measures for stock management and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with all operational policies and execute omni-channel initiatives.
SUPERVISORY ROLE:
This position involves supervising a team of employees.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands for various tasks. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds is necessary. The work environment typically has a low to moderate noise level.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or associate degree in business or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 2 years in retail sales with prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and internet applications.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be available for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
