Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Technician reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities- Provides pharmacy services and assistance under the supervision of a pharmacist, ensuring accurate and timely medication dispensing.
- Utilizes critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision to resolve complex issues.
- Works effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment, maintaining composure and taking appropriate action to ensure patient safety.
- Refills and maintains automated dispensing systems, ensuring accurate inventory levels and minimizing waste.
- Fills medication carts on a daily basis, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and ensure efficient workflow.
- Prepares orders and maintains inventory for the pharmacy department, adhering to regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Repackages bulk medications, ensuring accurate labeling and packaging.
- Provides pharmacy services and assistance under the supervision of a pharmacist, supporting the healthcare team in delivering high-quality patient care.
- May support additional projects, perform administrative tasks, and other duties as assigned to contribute to the success of the pharmacy department.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- LIC PHARMT: Illinois licensure as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Pharmacy Technician License (IDFPR).
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through PTCB required for all those licensed after 2008. Newly licensed Technicians have 2 years from license effective date to obtain their CPhT.
- 1 year experience in a hospital setting.
