Job Title: Transportation Engineer Intern

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Transportation Engineer Intern to join our team at Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE). As a Transportation Engineer Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in roadway design and development, working closely with our experienced engineers and project managers.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation of road and highway designs, including data collection and analysis.
  • Perform roadway and highway design calculations, conduct investigative analyses, and assist with the preparation of design drawings and specifications.
  • Carry out the design of roadways and surfaces according to relevant design standards, specifications, and requirements.
  • Work with engineers on isometric designs and assist project managers with design review, permitting, and proposal efforts.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated research and resource utilization skills.
  • Proficiency in independent work and collaborative teamwork.
  • Enthusiasm and eagerness to excel in a competitive, fast-paced industry.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with project managers and engineers.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office suite, AutoCAD, MicroStation Inroads/Geopak, and/or OpenRoads.
  • Excellent mathematical skills and aptitude.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational and planning capabilities.
  • Familiarity with job cost analysis, scheduling, safety protocols, and construction principles.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Must complete a pre-employment screening; ICE is a drug-free workplace.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Must be actively pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Prior internship experience preferred.
Career Development - ICE Mentor:

Interns are paired with experienced staff members to provide guidance and support throughout the internship process. They will report directly to a team lead who will provide regular feedback, special training, guidance, evaluation, and support.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

This position involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation, with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds.

Expected Hours of Work:

The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule.
