We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at Bowhead. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment, including road graders, rock trucks, bulldozers, scrapers, shovels, excavators, tractors, loaders, and forklifts.
Key Responsibilities- Operate Heavy Equipment: Perform heavy duty equipment operation as directed by the site superintendent and/or foreman.
- Additional Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Operators Proficiency: Must have operators proficiency on a variety of equipment including but not limited to road graders, rock trucks, bulldozers, scrapers, shovels, excavators, tractors, loaders, and forklifts.
- Independence: Perform independently without direct supervision.
- Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills.
- OSHA Compliance: Ability to perform duties and operation of tools of the trade in strict compliance with OSHA rules.
- Work History: Have punctual and on time work history.
- Teamwork: Work well within a team setting.
- Working Knowledge: Must have working knowledge of heavy highway construction.
- Experience: Must have 1+ years of related experience in highway construction.
- Operator Experience: Must have 1+ year of prior work history as an operator.
- License: Must possess and maintain current drivers license.
- Education: Must have a high school diploma or Equivalent.
- Union Membership: Must be member of Local Union 302.
- CDL License: CDL license preferred but not required.
- Motion and Range: Must be able to have good motion of range for body and limbs.
- Object Handling: Handle and manipulate objects and material.
- Coordination: Coordinate the movement of eyes, hands, feet and fingers to complete assigned tasks.
- Visual and Hearing Skills: Able to utilize adequate visual skills and adequate hearing skills.
- Work at Heights: Ability to work at heights above 12 while working from ladders, scaffolding, and/or man lifts.
- Physical Activity: Extensive physical activity.
- Heavy Lifting: Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
- Reach and Vision: Be able to reach in all directions and have an adequate field of vision of all instruments, gauges, warning lights, as well as an acceptable field of vision out of the windows and/or mirrors.
- Weather: Will work in all types of weather.
- Elevation: Work in different elevations.
- Job Site: Job site will contain light to heavy equipment, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools.
- People and Noise: People standing, walking, sitting, signaling, and talking. May be occasional bells, alarms, and whistles.
- Environmental Conditions: Applicant may be subject to environmental conditions of extreme cold, noise exposure, constantly changing work environment, irregular surfaces, slippery surfaces, moving equipment, open excavations, temporary structures, and general construction hazards.
