Job Overview

We are seeking a Trauma-Informed Service Manager to oversee the delivery of social services at our city sanctuary hotels throughout New York City. This role will involve working cooperatively with hotel operations and security staff to welcome and engage migrant and asylum-seeking individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily social service operations, providing on-the-ground support and supervision for community associates responsible for culturally sensitive assessments and referrals.
  • Supervise teams of 3-6 community associates, overseeing varied tasks including reviewing completed assessments, ensuring culturally sensitive services, and intervening in crises as needed.
  • Collaborate with operations and security staff to plan and troubleshoot issues, coordinate interpretation and translation services, and provide coverage for community associate staff when necessary.
  • Meet with operations and security staff to discuss planning and site management, manage and document incidents, and maintain accurate rosters and attendance records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or two years of relevant social services experience working with vulnerable populations who have experienced significant trauma.
  • Strong understanding of trauma and its manifestations, as well as experience delivering trauma-informed, culturally sensitive services.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to learn quickly and problem-solve under pressure.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with ability to work independently and manage a team.
  • Working knowledge of immigration laws and procedures, as well as child development, child welfare, and education requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social work or other human services field, with two years of relevant experience working with people seeking asylum.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken), with experience supervising social services staff in culturally sensitive, trauma-informed settings.
  • Solid understanding of immigration laws, regulations, and benefits/entitlements, with experience working on-site in congregate housing settings.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year
